And, it isn't much of a bet if there's no closing longshots.
  • Chaos
At this point, I'd say that this concept finds potential chaos races. Not all fall apart. But many of the ones that do fall apart follow this pattern. One of the caveats is to proceed with caution when there's an obviously solid favorite.
  • Chaos
This concept is fairly new, so I have not even gone through one KD with it yet.

That's why the BRIS software is typically so poor.Dave Schwartz

It's dreadfully simple and not very helpful.
  • My New Software is coming: The STUDIO
I inadvertently implied that the new product might not be a good deal for non-HSH users and that was certainly not my intent. I was just pointing out that maintaining the same data source would seem to be an especially good thing for people already on that plan as there is the familiarity aspect.
  • My New Software is coming: The STUDIO
    Yes.
That is the only possible business model that works for a software vendor.
    Dave Schwartz

Seems that is good news for current HSH users.
  • My New Software is coming: The STUDIO
So, this uses the same data as HSH?

    Flogging that dead horse. lol

If you divided the total by the number of races it could be useful!Mark

That would give an average SR, but that wasn't the point of the calculation.

Dave's idea is to take the sorted 6th highest figure and look for an 8/1+ horse that is within that 1st to 6th range. I think Steve probably gets it now.

I found the one above and removed it. Where is the other?Dave Schwartz

Maybe in "A different speed rating"?
  • Tom's Ulitmate Odds Line - The Software
Sorry. When I heard COLLECTIVE SPEED, since I've never heard of anyone other than me using those words, I assume the discussion was about this thread.Dave Schwartz

It is. This thread is about Tom's UOL.
  • Tom's Ulitmate Odds Line - The Software
I am referring to the collective speed in UOL, not Multicaps. There is no collective speed in Multicaps.

In other words, what you are describing does not seem to me to be the same thing that s implemented in UOL.

So, I have the same question. What am I missing?
  • Tom's Ulitmate Odds Line - The Software
    I'm lost.

Looking at the 4/17 WO race 6 with Multicaps file (BRIS). #1 has a COLL column amount of 613. That equals the total of the 10 speed ratings for that horse, including a zero for a race in which that horse lost his rider.

There is a button for COLLECTIVE SPEED. When I press that button, all of the horses for the day are listed (sorted) with each showing the value found in the COLL column.

    What am I missing?
  • Tom's Ulitmate Odds Line - The Software
Mark, I had the same question. Also, when a jockey falls off, the SR is zero.

Post questions and comments in here please.Steven

    What is Twin%
  • A different speed rating
Yes, and Sartin and Quirin are among those who pointed out that Place and Win are not selected the same way.
  • A different speed rating
Interesting discussion fellas. Boy Dave you really like that 8/1 threshold.Biniak

That's probably, in part, because the average payout is, I think, around 9/2. That's average. The median is lower, somewhere around 5/2. Dave can tell us more precisely. The average gets skewed way up by the infrequent 50/1 and such horses.
  • A different speed rating
Except the ones that are very well-intended.Dave Schwartz

Yes, I followed a horse yesterday that went slowly from 6/1 to 5/2 and then floated up to 3/1 and won. I think that was the one I mentioned to Tony.
  • A different speed rating
From my observations, most horses above 6/1 go up near post time. There's always the exceptions.
