  • Is the CUTAWAY a good idea?
    @Tony Kofalt
    I also see a safety concern running through the turn. Will the cutaway make navigating the turn more dangerous as multiple horses attempt to gain rail position?
    It seems that the point of the cutout is to eliminate any edge that the rail position might have otherwise held in the run to the wire. Thus.."multiple horses " attempting to gain rail postion wouldn't be an issue.
  • Is the CUTAWAY a good idea?
    @Dave Schwartz
    I thought it would IMPROVE safety for the riders because you wouldn't have the guys coming through on the rail
    At first glance,I must agree that the "cutout" would be a positive safety move as it "spreads" the field at the top of the stretch and eliminates any "edge" that diving for the rail might afford once past the cutout . The "straight" line is the same distance to the wire wherever the horse is placed on the track.Thus ,fewer traffic difficulties .
    Since the cutout effectively eliminates any "edge" that a following horse might gain by following "the shortest way home" by riding the rail we'll likely see better stretch running too. Only our handicapping will need some modification.
  • How do I continue to let this happen?
    @Tony Kofalt
    Tough balancing act William
    It certainly is ! However , I'm certain that my "default" position differs considerably from yours ,which makes it easy to comment.
  • How do I continue to let this happen?
    @Tony Kofalt
    I think these 3 measures are not only acceptable but necessary, given the inherent uncertainty about how, precisely, a race will play out. However, we must be careful to avoid inclusions merely in the interest of "caution". This is why finding strong "singles" or pairs is vital

    I guess that I overlooked the "Private" part of " private companies" and consequently they must be "privately" funded.. In that light they must be viewed as dangerous competitors.Still wonder what sort of "deep pockets" are funding these 6 ventures.
    ...My suspicious nature showing.lol

    Please forgive me if Im getting tedious. My curiosity is piqued and I tend to delve deep to satisfy it.

    Seriously?
    One company wagered $300m and made $27m profit.

    That's a +9% ROI.

    But even more amazing is that they did it out of a $3m bankroll.

    Thus, that is 9x on their money for the year.

    They have 100 employees.
    Are these companies whose sole endeavor is investing in horse racing wagering or do they also conduct other business?

    I wonder what their tax return looks like.

    I wonder if these "whales'" have been investigated for money laundering. It seems an odd choice of investment for a legitimate company, particularly if its a publicly traded one.

    They've been playing since around 2005, but their betting approaches all changed about 2014/15
    .
    That would explain why I didn't notice them. My last daily play was January of 2011...I restarted as a casual player September of 2019 . Just this year decided to get back in with both feet.

    • William, your angles would involve much more programming and work than I want to take on right now.
      Thanks for your help so far Steven! I understand that it's a large and cumbersome project.
