the new deT work out feature allows us to determine the best work out since last race. i played 21 races yesterday and there were 4 bombs as a result of this new feature.

woodbine 3, the 3, arami's factor, had a 98 best work out since last race, 8 points above the next highest and 12 points above the chalky fave, the 4. the 3 had an a+ rating and won and went wire to wire and paid $13.60. the x with 4 paid $14.75.

now for a couple of real bombs both of which were at del mar. r9, the top 3 work out horses were the 4 at 103, the 2 at 101 and the 6 at 98. 4 was a fts. both the 2 and 6 were 1 1 a+ and the 4 was a c+. the 8 was also a 1 1 but an f. 2 ways to play this. the conservative way is box all 3 for a total cost of $6 for a $1 x and a $1 tri. the payouts were $54.20 for the x and $169.20 for the tri. the other way would have been to play 2,6/2,6/4 cutting the cost to $2 for both the x and the tri. with the low cost playing both is certainly feasible. of course you may have wanted to include the 8 being a 1 1 and not a balo. then the cost would rise but not signifigantly.

del mar, r11, the top 3 best work out horses were the 9 at 101 and the 2 and 7 tied at 97 for second. the 1, 9 and 6 were all 1 1's with the 6 being a balo. even though the 9 was an f he was not a balo and had by far the lowest al of around 3/5. along with the 8, the 9 had an early speed edge and was top in psr and cpwr. to me the play was the 9/1,2,6,7,8 for both the x and tri. if you're scared off by the 9's f rating play the reverse as well-1,2,6,7,8/9 x and 1,2,6,7,8/9/1,2,6,7,8 tri. the 9 won and paid a chalky $4.40 but the 2 placed and paid a whopping $44.80. the 6 showed and paid $3.80. the $1 x paid $144.60! the $1 tri paid $505.60! a simple 3 horse box of the 3 best work out horses, the 2,7 and 9 would have hit the x as well.

saratoga 7, on the last day of the current meeting, the top 4 work out horses were the 2 at 95, the 3 and 9 tied at 94 and the 10 at 91. the 10's work out was only 4 days ago which to me makes it even better. the 9's work out was also very recent, being within 5 days. the 3 was getting the meet's leading jockey, irad ortiz. but the 3 had incredibly low recent speed figures. still, it had irad and that usually means something. the 11 was a 1 1 f and a balo. the 3 was a 1 1 a+. and the 10 was a 2 2 a+. i came up with a 2.3.9.10 and 11 tri and sf box. the tri for .50 cents and the sf for .20 cents. the 3 almost unbelievably completely ran out and finished 2nd to last after being eased. the tri paid $157.75 and the sf paid $264 x 2=$528!

    just an awesome new feature!

Nice hits. I've found the workout reports to be very helpful. Also, SAR R6, just before your hit. The #4 and #2, both FTS's, were the top 2 in the 2 year-old workout report. The #2 won at $21.40. $384.50 double with your #10 in R7.

Dave R., in the Reports > The Report Sets-- there's a Set titled s: FTS Friendly. Load that Set and you'll find 15 FTS Friendly reports. I have not tried all of them. I have two (2) that I use that have the following Fields.
    FTS's: 31, 32, 33, 29, 34, 38
    FTS 2 Year-Olds: 34, 31, 33, 32, 27, 201
The above seem to work pretty well.
In the HSH Factors list you'll find these fields and a few others if you wanted to create and test your own reports.

hey ram: i use jim p's. but also have my own which has the days since last race and days since last race or work so that you know if the work out is fresh (since after the last race).

    fields: 30, 26, 27, 28, 224 and 225.

i play mainly maiden races and cheap claimers where exceptional work outs really make a difference.
there were 2 more bombs today, both at fanduel, formerly fairmount park. r3, was msw and the 3 had a 94 work out (tops) and the next highest was the 2 at 85. the 3 came from off the pace, storming down the stretch to win and paid $20.80!

r5, at fanduel, was a cheap claimer for 4k and not only was the 8 the second best work out at 77, there was a jockey switch to uriel lopez who won r3 as well. the 8 paid $38.60 to win and $14.60 to place!

miss seeing you at the meetings. hopefully we will talk soon.
