• Working Groups to learn deTerminator
Hello Pio. Welcome to the DET team.
  • BC and more
Be careful in turf races because of the large fields and Euro's. The Euro's run well no matter their post position.

Thanks Ram. I'm going to add the BH to the strategy and see how it works. Obviously it seems to be working well at PRX.

Hello Neal. I've been working on a strategy similar to Ram. First I have one (1) report that I use to pick contenders. Then in the Final Step I meld the two (2) Green "3" and "4" AI pacelines. For Turf and Tapeta, I meld a little different. Under GENRES I've been using ODS 63 with an Obj Wgt of "46". 46 will elevate a horse in this object versus using 50 or higher.
I think the key is being consistent, especially with the initial Prime AI melding. Dirt, sprints, routes, turf, track specific-- be consistent with what you use. I've found using the two (2) Green "3" and "4" AI pacelines works pretty well for dirt races.
  • deTERMINATOR: Confidence Level vs. Score Problem
Thanks. I'll be on the call tonight.
  • deTERMINATOR: Confidence Level vs. Score Problem
Here's what I'm seeing. I want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly.
    1. The first pop-up message: Loc: Glo_Filter_Name=NM-sp-s-turf. (17) Abort or Ignore. I select Ignore.
    2. The next pop-up message: The AI Engine WILL handicap this race. Warning: Low Confidence Threshold. I select OK.
    3. I then see at the bottom of the screen "LOW CONF" and "1". If you click the "1" you get "When you change the default Low Confidence System the race must be closed & reopened so the AI can re-handicap. The new pop-up is now: Loc: Glo_Filter_Name=Y-sp-s-turf. (21). When I reopened the "1" is now a "2".

  • updated work out reports has 4 bombs on labor day (9/2/24):
Dave R., in the Reports > The Report Sets-- there's a Set titled s: FTS Friendly. Load that Set and you'll find 15 FTS Friendly reports. I have not tried all of them. I have two (2) that I use that have the following Fields.
    FTS's: 31, 32, 33, 29, 34, 38
    FTS 2 Year-Olds: 34, 31, 33, 32, 27, 201
The above seem to work pretty well.
In the HSH Factors list you'll find these fields and a few others if you wanted to create and test your own reports.
  • updated work out reports has 4 bombs on labor day (9/2/24):
Nice hits. I've found the workout reports to be very helpful. Also, SAR R6, just before your hit. The #4 and #2, both FTS's, were the top 2 in the 2 year-old workout report. The #2 won at $21.40. $384.50 double with your #10 in R7.
  • big shout out to jimmy pommier for his work out idea:
Hello Bob. Rating #224 is Days - Days Since Last Race. Rating #225 is DaysWR - Days Since Last Race or WO. Example: If #224 is 43 means the horse last raced 43 days ago. If #225 is 6 that means the horse had a workout 6 days ago (since 6 days is less than 43). Then you know that the horse had a workout since the last race and you can check the Workout report(s). You can also add #415 - Number of times on track in the last 30 days. In the about example that would equal 2. Once for the race 43 days ago and once for the workout 6 days ago.
If you need the Workout reports or have any other questions, let me know, happy to help.
  • big shout out to jimmy pommier for his work out idea:
224 Days - Days Since Last Race and 225 DaysWR - Days Since Last Race or WO. If the days are different, factor 225 days is less than factor 224, then you know the horse had a workout. 227 Work14 - (last 14 days) then gives you the WO rating if the WO was in the last 14 days. There's also 228 Work30 If you want to check workouts further out from today's race.
  • Starter Optional Eligibles to Claim or Not
Do you have a race example? I usually just handicap the race unless I have time to dig a little deeper.

My question is: "dots represent races where the horse was asked to do something different
from what he is being asked to do today." What is different?
Could the race distance be 1/16th different versus 1/8th? Blinkers On or blinkers Off?
Guessing some would be races taken off the Turf and moved to dirt or Tapeta. Many horses at GPX will not scratch out of Turf races moved to the Tapeta.
Also, as claiming horses win, they lose that condition and move up (NW2L to NW3L). Horses that lose may then be moved down in claiming price. Are these considered different?
I think that most trainers figure out what's best for the horse, but have to do something different based on the horse's class condition and the availability of similar races in the condition book.
  • Saratoga - Off TwinSpires
Rumor is that NYRA/TS worked things out today. Guess we'll see tomorrow.
  • Understanding Reports - 001 The Basics
Reports: The first Column on the left is Pct, and then there's Reynolds 2 (Rey2). I notice that some horses may have a low Pct, but are a Rey2 = 1. Trying to understand the difference.
  • How About a Monday Night Q & A Session?
My question: How to create a report to determine if a horse is dropping in class today? Also, class in general-- a report to show which horses have the best class (maybe a ranking).
  • 09JUL2024 - PRX R9
Yes, I tried the other step. Not sure what the problem is.
