    @Chuck

I am saying that building class pars before you have track pars is a complete waste of time.

I am also saying that building class pars for this year from last year's data will produce a good set of pars for what happened in the past but will not reflect in the future because the levels are just not that consistent from year to year.

In addition, there are races labeled as c$16,000 that are good enough to be called c$25k and others that can barely stretch to c$10k.

    It is better to:
    1. Build solid track pars.
    2. Use a Strength Rating approach for each individual race and completely ignore the class level system entirely.

PS: Explanation of Strength Ratings can be found in Percentages & Probabilities 2012.

I can meet with you in an hour or so if you'd like me to look at it.

    Now I understand.
You are mixing different approaches -
    A) the Race Weighting during the Par Making Process
    B) the actual Speed Reliability Indexing process.

During the Par Making process I weight the races depending upon how early the ultimate winner first challenged for the lead. That is on a 9-4-2-1 scale. (Began as 4-3-2-1.

The SRI is a rather simple approach where where I total the wins of horses that get into the top 3.
    That is done by using:
Sprints: Best Rating of the Last 2
Routes: Best 2 of Last 3

Your Par making approach is (basically) what Beyer suggested.
It is not a good way to build pars because it is dependent upon the quality of each race level last meet..

Those are not consistent from year to year as they were decades ago when we had so many horses in each level that there were also eligibles.

    Now things have changed.
The goal is to determine how fast the track is.
You do this by building a $10k level par (even if the track doesn't run a $10k).

    Begin with a rigid class structure - $10k is a 100, $12k/$12.5 is a 101, $15/$16k is 102, etc.

Build ONE PAR for each TRACK-SURFACE-DISTANCE.

    I'm sorry, not sure where I am giving an E-horse a 4, EP a 3, etc.

    I think you've misunderstood something.

Sounds much like my cardio/pulmonary plan started in 2019. I'm up to 5 miles daily,6 days per week except when the weather is inclement.William Zayonce

    Bill, that's awesome!

Yes, a lot like that I would imagine.

I am sure there are people here who would like to know how you did this, if you'd care to share.

Congrats on your physical reformation ,Dave!
    Bet it wasn't easy.
    William Zayonce

    It was actually AMAZINGLY EASY.

    Not trivial, but easy.
Cannot do it with will power, I will tell you that.

    Tried that for 40+ years.
    Always ended in failure.
    _______________________
For those who aren't aware, I've started a private group here for people who find themselves in a similar state to mine 22 months ago. Anyone interested should start a discussion with me privately.

Short version - I lived 42 years of my life as a fat man - XXL all the way.
    5'9" tall, 294 pounds.

Shockingly, not terrible unhealthy - "just" mild diabetes and a high heart rate. (No heart meds.)

I'd lost a little weight - almost 20 pounds - and was struggling to keep it off - and not making any headway in the previous 6 months.

On the morning of February 1st, 2023, I woke up at 4am just sick of it and decided I had to do something but didn't know what that was but decided that day was the day.

    I made a simple plan.
    1. At 6am that very day I would walk to the end of the block and back - about 150 yards.

    That was it.
    That was the entire plan.
    I did it.
And the next day I went a little farther.
Whatever I chose to do HAD TO BE EASY.

The lifetime of the software and your license - obviously providing we're still in business.

What provision has been made to provide ongoing support ( for their monthly fee ) to purchasers in the event that you become unable to do so?William Zayonce

    Really good question.
    _____________
    The answer is, "Not currently."
However, I do recognize the need and we'll move to address it in the next few months.

BTW, HSH does have what could best be described as "Flip the switch and the copy protection is gone." That will be in place within 60 days for deTERMINATOR.
    _____________
In the event of my demise, ongoing support is both harder and easier.

It's harder in the sense that nobody but me currently understands how everything works/will work. Such people must be BUILT FROM WITHIN, and I am looking for such people now among our users and even candidates.

It's easier in the sense that such people will just logically rise to the top because they want this to succeed because the are already very encouraged by what they've seen.

    Continuity must be addressed.
    _____________
Relating to this is, of course, my own personal health and longevity.

As one of my doctors recently said, "It's like you've rolled back the clock by about 30 years in the last 20 months."

    This is an accurate statement.
  • The deT AI software
Simple answer... YES, WE WILL RETRAIN PERIODICALLY.

Logically, next training would be late March or mid-April 2024, which would be v2 of the training engine.

LIFETIME TRAINING is included in your purchase.

Back to Chaos 5 races. When you click on AI Race it displays Chaos=5 and then Key Call=1st Call, Key Call=Str Call, etc. Is the AI saying that the Key Call displayed is still important even though it's a Chaos=5 race?Jim Pommier

The two are completely different components.
    ___________________________
Recall that KEY CALL is the RED letter. Since it is NOT GREEN it is NOT AI but computational in nature.
    ___________________________
This is unlike the CHAOS definition - which is both formulaic and AI based. IOW, the AI built the formula and may even slightly modify it for a given race.
(Note: Discussing how CHAOS is determined is much like the core AI's Heuristics Engine, a significant part of the entire process. This would be part of the "YES, BUT HOW DOES IT REALLY WORK? question which is a huge part of the trade secrets and cannot be explained.)
    ___________________________
Once the smoke clears - all bugs fixed and us further down the path of future NECESSARY development - I will find the time to EXPLAIN how AI works to those who are interested.

Sorry that I cannot provide a clearer answer today.

PS: It doesn't have to be about the end result of your handicapping.
It can literally be about a question you have.

Example: "Do Non-BALO Mag1s with LATE running styles do worse than those with EARLY Running Styles?"

Because they are LOW ODDS it will not take a lot of races for you to test this - maybe just 200 to get a good idea.

This is the kind of stuff that gives you CLARITY about what works and what doesn't.

I suggest that guys keep what I call a Decision Notebook.
    1. You create a page and at the top of the page you write a meaningful question.
    2. For example, "How good am I at predicting who will be on the lead at the 1st call?"
    3. You line the page with columns such as "My 1st Call," "Actual 1st Call"
    4. After the charts come in, you circle the horses under "My 1st Call" who are also in the "Actual" column.
    5. At the bottom of the page you put your scores and percents.

Over the decades I've worked with maybe 10 guys who actually did this for any length of time. Pretty close to all of them who stuck with it improved their results.

Most guys quit by about the 10th race because they didn't like seeing the reality of their numbers.

    REALITY IS KING!
