    No, it was not recorded.
It was just conversation - with @ponyplayer and @Jim Michalak leading the conversation.

Was not meant to be recorded.

Still, you're invited to ask away.

Plenty of people here have gained plenty of knowledge already.

Yesterday's Live Play really helped in several ways, I think.

Do you see how Ken Fee has managed to Build a SCENARION STRATEGY?

See how he has worked through a thought process for how a SCENARIO such as this should be handled.

@Ken Fee correct me if I am wrong, but I'm betting this conclusion was a trial and error process that took effort. Did you have to tinker with it much?

People, may I suggest that we all begin using the HEART symbol in the lower right corner of a post when you see it was meaningful, important, or on whatever scale you see it.

This will help new people to get an idea of who the contributors are.
  • I think I broke it...
Sorry, but that is not the problem.

Also, 1.0001 will stop running tomorrow.

    It is a mandatory upgrade.
There is nothing wrong with 1.0002.
The issue was your original copy.

    I guarantee it.
  • I think I broke it...
Will upgrade 002 overwrite permissions or should I start with 000?

Will reinstalling 000 overwrite my data files or do I need to
    redownload?
    ponyplayer

I thought I wrote about that.
It overwrites nothing other than the .exe.
But don't you already have 1.0002?

    You must fire the reports.
As soon as I get past the current round of critical bugs, I'll go back to videos.
  • I think I broke it...
    Not sure how.
Is this your 2nd computer? The one that you copied over to?
If so, guess is that some file or folder permissions were not copied.

    Wow.
I'd invest $$ to get an expert to clean that up or toss the computer completely.

I am not building class pars.. I am building track pars... And I understand your ratings. Dave.Chuck

Respectfully, I got this far before my brain disconnected with the giant paragraph.

The way my brain is wired, I read a single line in about three eye movements. Hand me a giant paragraph without carriage returns and it will take me 10 minutes to read it.

    Malware Bytes.
    Spend the money.

And, to be clear, what does "Hacked" mean?
  • Error loading to 2nd computer
That usually means something was upgraded that was open at the time you upgraded.

Not likely DET, but something else.

    @Chuck

I am saying that building class pars before you have track pars is a complete waste of time.

I am also saying that building class pars for this year from last year's data will produce a good set of pars for what happened in the past but will not reflect in the future because the levels are just not that consistent from year to year.

In addition, there are races labeled as c$16,000 that are good enough to be called c$25k and others that can barely stretch to c$10k.

    It is better to:
    1. Build solid track pars.
    2. Use a Strength Rating approach for each individual race and completely ignore the class level system entirely.

PS: Explanation of Strength Ratings can be found in Percentages & Probabilities 2012.

    No clue.
    Never seen this.

The WLanguage is the referencing WinDev, the language that app was written in.
That sounds like a file in the folder was not copied.

I can meet with you in an hour or so if you'd like me to look at it.

    1. You must reopen the day.
    or
    2. You forgot to important the data you downloaded.

The onboarding videos will be done today and available later today.

    Now I understand.
You are mixing different approaches -
    A) the Race Weighting during the Par Making Process
    B) the actual Speed Reliability Indexing process.

During the Par Making process I weight the races depending upon how early the ultimate winner first challenged for the lead. That is on a 9-4-2-1 scale. (Began as 4-3-2-1.

The SRI is a rather simple approach where where I total the wins of horses that get into the top 3.
    That is done by using:
Sprints: Best Rating of the Last 2
Routes: Best 2 of Last 3

Your Par making approach is (basically) what Beyer suggested.
It is not a good way to build pars because it is dependent upon the quality of each race level last meet..

Those are not consistent from year to year as they were decades ago when we had so many horses in each level that there were also eligibles.

    Now things have changed.
The goal is to determine how fast the track is.
You do this by building a $10k level par (even if the track doesn't run a $10k).

    Begin with a rigid class structure - $10k is a 100, $12k/$12.5 is a 101, $15/$16k is 102, etc.

Build ONE PAR for each TRACK-SURFACE-DISTANCE.

    I'm sorry, not sure where I am giving an E-horse a 4, EP a 3, etc.

    I think you've misunderstood something.

Sounds much like my cardio/pulmonary plan started in 2019. I'm up to 5 miles daily,6 days per week except when the weather is inclement.William Zayonce

    Bill, that's awesome!

Yes, a lot like that I would imagine.

I am sure there are people here who would like to know how you did this, if you'd care to share.
  • The deT AI software
Congrats on your physical reformation ,Dave!
    Bet it wasn't easy.
    William Zayonce

    It was actually AMAZINGLY EASY.

    Not trivial, but easy.
Cannot do it with will power, I will tell you that.

    Tried that for 40+ years.
    Always ended in failure.
    _______________________
For those who aren't aware, I've started a private group here for people who find themselves in a similar state to mine 22 months ago. Anyone interested should start a discussion with me privately.

Short version - I lived 42 years of my life as a fat man - XXL all the way.
    5'9" tall, 294 pounds.

Shockingly, not terrible unhealthy - "just" mild diabetes and a high heart rate. (No heart meds.)

I'd lost a little weight - almost 20 pounds - and was struggling to keep it off - and not making any headway in the previous 6 months.

On the morning of February 1st, 2023, I woke up at 4am just sick of it and decided I had to do something but didn't know what that was but decided that day was the day.

    I made a simple plan.
    1. At 6am that very day I would walk to the end of the block and back - about 150 yards.

    That was it.
    That was the entire plan.
    I did it.
And the next day I went a little farther.
Whatever I chose to do HAD TO BE EASY.
